2024: Back to Where It All Began

It's that time again!

First and foremost, I want to mention that this is going to be the first October since I started this blog, so let me thank everyone who's come here and followed some or all of my reviews this year. (There's a few of you out there, and that's awesome!) I started this blog specifically so my wife would have somewhere to read my reviews without having to search through my Facebook, but it's definitely gotten some traffic since I started it so thank you for coming.

Now, story time!

I never really watched many horror films when I was young, though I did see bits and pieces of a few whenever my older siblings rented one and I was able to peek into the living room. I was always intrigued by the idea of horror, and perusing the horror aisle at our local Blockbuster Video always gave me the chills from the creepy box art. When my wife and I first started dating back in 2005, one day we decided to go to the rental place and pick out a horror movie- but we both admitted that we gravitated towards the "bad" variety- the low-budget schlock rather than the big-budget summer blockbusters. Now, she and I disagree on exactly which was the first Bad Horror Movie we watched together, but there's no dispute that before long, we had started a "Weekly Bad Horror Movie Night" with our friends, a tradition that we continued for several years!

So this month, I'm going back to where my horror journey began: I've made a list comprised of many of the low-budget, "bad" horror movies that we used to watch (as well as some of the many sequels that some of them have spawned in years since)! Now, this was a tough decision because for previous lists of horror films I've covered, in most cases they were movies that the general public may have seen. (There were some obscure ones thrown in there, but most of them were at least known titles.) This time, though, I'd be shocked if anyone out there has even heard of half of these movies, and I don't expect many people to have seen them. But! But! Don't pack up your things just yet. In as many cases as possible I've provided a link where you can watch the movie online for free (the thing about bad cheap movies is that nobody is going to get upset if they're uploaded to YouTube in their entirety), so in the likely event that you haven't seen a movie I'm covering, I implore you to watch it along with me (and even share your thoughts in the comments)!

Just be warned that many, many of these movies are going to be bad. Terrible, even. I think I may even provide two scores for each movie: one as the absolute score (separate from any other viewing experiences), and one as how much I like or dislike the movie based on how much it's been a part of my life since I first viewed it. (I'll also try to throw in details about my first viewings of these movies, when applicable.)

So, I do apologize to anyone that may be turned off by how personal and obscure this list is going to be, but hey, this is my blog, so I'm going to do what I want! (But you should still follow along plzkthxbai)
